what to expect
For birth stories, I’m not present as your “photographer”. You’re literally booking me as a fly on the wall. I’m there to capture the moments between contractions when your husband holds your hand and smiles knowingly with you, the joyful tears when you see your baby for the first time, and the candid laughs with the hospital staff when your baby gives you the stink eye — all without you even remembering I’m there to document these incredible few hours. The beauty of having me there is that you’ll get to enjoy these memories forever, even when the passing of time might have made them grow fuzzy.
Before I book any baby session on my schedule, I confirm that one or more of my three back-up photographers will be available to shoot your session in case I’m not available due to an emergency or simply out-of-town. All of my back-up photographers are extensively trained in birth story and newborn photography as well as my particular shooting style so that when I return, I’ll edit the photos and deliver quality identical to what you would have received if I were there shooting in person. That being said, I do everything in my power to be present at the sessions you book with me — but either way, I just wanted to let you know I’m prepared for the unknown.
My newborn style is more of a lifestyle family session, whether in your home or in a styled studio. My passion is for capturing the candid moments with your child in their element as well as with their parents, as opposed to styled, posed baby photos with props.
